Employees of the Global Change Research Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CzechGlobe) and the Charles University Environment Centre in cooperation with other partners of the One Nature project have created a database of key actors that are important for decision-making and management of the Natura 2000 network at the national or regional levels. The database will facilitate consultations with those going to use the outputs of the evaluation of socio-economic benefits of the Natura 2000 network.

The creation of the database is the first step in a participatory approach to raise awareness of the benefits related to the Natura 2000 network, which is one of the outputs of the One Nature project. Key actors, such as state administration institutions, associations and non-governmental organizations, other specialists´ and research institutes, will therefore be able to better integrate evaluation results into their own decision-making processes and policies which affect the delivery of benefits provided by the Natura 2000 network in the Czech Republic and the management of it.

Consultations and participatory seminars with selected key actors will take place in 2020 and 2021, leading to their involvement in the Natura 2000 network benefits evaluation, as well as identifying their needs in terms of ecosystem services evaluation. The consultation process will lead, inter alia, to the establishment of the National Platform for Ecosystem Services.
